Shooting victim waves down driver to take him to hospital
A 32-year-old Ypsilanti Township man was shot multiple times early Sunday, then waved down a passing motorist for a ride to a hospital.
The incident took place in the 400 block of Second Avenue in Ypsilanti, where police said the man was shot at about 3:47 a.m.
The victim was listed in critical condition at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, but he was able to talk to police, officers said.
The man told police he was in the 400 block of Second when he was shot more than once, but he didn't see the gunman.
Police said they continue to investigate. They released no information on why the man was there and whether there were additional witnesses.

anti-thug, in a response to your 'it never happens" all I have to do is cite the "face eating guy" from Miami last month. He was shot, continued to eat the homeless dudes face and then was shot repeatedly until he expired. And you can also look into any incident when someone, say on PCP or the like continues to hulk out without concern cause adrenaline is surging and they continue the attack. It happens.

The "driver" who stopped and helped was in on whatever happened. No one is going to stop and take someone shot to the hospital if they are a stranger. They're going to call 911 and maybe, MAYBE, get out of the car and try and stop the bleeding. But i can't imagine anyone that I know letting some stranger bleed on their seats and possibly die instead of calling the ambulance. I hope the YPD tries to track down these "good Samaritans" b/c I'm guessing they know more than anyone is willing to admit. The YPD found out about the shooting from the hospital! The hospital! Not the driver. They're involved.

I was thinking the same thing. I am also thinking blood borne pathogens as well. Hope they got the car seat cleaned.

I praise the driver that stopped, especially at this time of the morning. I may not have made a complete stop, but would have called 911 to help the victim.

I am sure the driver didn't inspect the man to see if he was really shot or not.I would have told him to climb into the back of my pickup truck where he couldn't reach me easily. Just in case it was an attemp at car jacking.AS for making him wait for paramedics he could have been dead by the time they arrived. Not everyone carries a cell to call for help.

I do hope you are being sarcastic. Because even 'victim's of multiple gunshot wounds can be a threat.

I'm not so sure what this driver did was "good," or smart at least. To walk into the middle of a crime scene and remove an unstable patient without any police presence or medical knowledge and/or equipment seems risky. The paramedics have an ambulance with all the necessary medical equipment on board so they can treat on the way to the hospital. I suppose you could look at it as being heroic, but it just seems like the driver is putting himself in danger too. This could have very easily turned into a bigger mess with two gunshot victims.

Nope this isn't the movies, this is real life and there are no retakes. You assume a lot in this situation that the driver could not have known. There are plenty of real examples of people stopping to help others in distress only to find it was a ruse. As I said kudos for the good Samaritan, even armed I would be hesitant to do the same.

this isnt the movies...no need for suspence when your bleed internaly and ex.... I highly doubt a shooting vitim will streak at radom after being injured.

I am not saying I would do the same. For all I know it could be someone with some ketchup trying to jack my car. On the flip side the bio hazard cleanup of my vehicle won't be cheap either. For those willing to help...good on ya if it turns out well. Me? I am letting the professionals handle it.

Good on the driver for stopping to help. That's a lot to ask these days..victim of a violent crime with no idea where the assailant is or if they are still after the victim. Let alone if the victim is a good or bad guy.

That's what I was thinking, good for the driver. I must admit, if someone flagged me down that early in the morning, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, I don't know if I would have stopped, no matter how much I wanted to. I would definitely call 911, but like you said, you don't know where the shooter is, or what's going on. The victim might even have been violent themselves, you never know. Hope the cops find the shooter.
