A 46-year-old Ypsilanti woman was jailed Tuesday after her boyfriend died after being stabbed with a large kitchen knife, police said.

Police were called to a home in the 400 block of South Huron Street at about 6:50 p.m.

They found Keith Edward Walton bleeding and unconscious but still breathing, according to a news release.

Walton was rushed to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect is the victim's live-in girlfriend, investigators said.

It appears "the two were involved in an argument that turned physical and led to the stabbing," according to a news release.

The suspect was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. Her name will be released after she's arraigned, police said.

From the National Directory of Marriage & Family Counseling: " The average cost for marriage and family counseling is about $100 per session. Since most marriage counselors see couples one session a week for the first three months, you can expect to pay about $1200 in that period of time if it's at about $100/hr." - and - " Another interesting thing to consider when evaluating the cost of marriage and family counseling is that family therapy has been shown to reduce health care use by 21.5%" "health care use" in this case means health care needed to repair injuries inflicted by the parties on each other. Just a hint: life-saving medical intervention in the situation described might amount to a considerable chunk of one's income. And we can see here that funeral and related costs are not given - just take a guess. (Haven't included cost estimate of police investigations/ interventions, etc - it'll make people mad.) Those "simple family arguments" spread big ripples of consequence, don't they?

and that is why I am happily single! Was married to an abusive prison guard and got out before I ended up like this.

The police can't control this type of situation but it is possible that we, as a community, can do things to prevent these things from happening. I obviously don't know the specifics of this case but I know that often in cases of domestic violence, there are external forces which contribute. One thing we could all do is try to make mental health services more available and with less stigma such that a person who is experiencing stress in their relationships can maybe talk to someone about non-violent ways to handle their situation.

i drove by about 720 last night and recalled seeing ypd parked out in front of that house a couple times recently. (i can't verify why). but the few times i've driven by and ypd has been parked there, you(i) can only speculate at the history of calls at that location.

First sentence: .........after ...... after ..... Too many afters. suggest you change to: A 46-year-old Ypsilanti woman was jailed Tuesday after her boyfriend died from stabbing with a large kitchen knife, police said. Reads much better. Otherwise you could throw in several more afters... after having an arguement after having dinner after a long day at work ....

Naturally, you get multiple thumbs-down votes for pointing out what would be a useful improvement in the "professional writing" here. Heaven forbid anyone suggest that something (as simple as writing, ho-ho) could be improved and add enjoyment (and understanding!). Whatever - don't give an inch. After reading about a killing all you can think to comment about is the grammar in the article? Really? My thoughts and sympathies go out to the victim and his family.

Paula, can you do us a favor and confirm whether this is the exact same address/couple who were previously involved in a stabbing incident last year (maybe earlier this year)? This exact stretch of Huron st had a couple arguing, and the female grabs the kitchen knife and stabs the boyfriend in the chest. He didn't die, that time. It's too coincidental not to be the same folks.

That was it! Thanks for the research, Kyle. Also 400 block of south Huron, but a 44 year old woman... now this a 46 year old woman.... hmmmmm....

Ross- I've found an incident that sounds similar and on the same block, however police are indicating to me that there were different individuals involved. The ages from that event and this one also don't seem to match up. Here's the link to that story. http://209.81.87.86/news/violent-domestic-dispute-sends-man-to-hospital-then-jail/

Both of those cases involved a relationship between the suspect and victim. Police used to tell me back in my days on that beat that they couldn't control that type of situation.

Gary, what's your mission here? Convince everyone to leave Ypsi? Newsflash.... there have been bad neighborhoods in Ypsi forever. I still feel perfectly safe in my corner of Ypsi. Just about every single incident of violence is between known associates, i.e., not random acts of violence.
