Trail through Water Street property in Ypsilanti ready for citizen use

By AnnArbor.com Staff

A temporary trail through the Water Street redevelopment property in Ypsilanti is ready for public use, the Friends of the Border To Border Trail has announced.

The trail, with a crushed concrete walking base, stretches from the Michigan Avenue bridge across the Huron River, south to a pedestrian bridge across the river leading to Waterworks Park. A usable trail also goes east from the pedestrian bridge to Park Street, going by the old Gilbert Park baseball diamond. This trail also follows the approximate route for a future segment of the cross-county Border To Border Trail.

On its website, the Friends of the Border To Border Trail, calls it "almost an urban wilderness." Parking is available just off Michigan Avenue, east of the bridge over the Huron, on the south side of the road.
