Laptop, GPS stolen from vehicles in EMU parking lot
A laptop, a GPS unit, two purses and a book bag were stolen in two separate incidents from vehicles parked in lot at Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium during this past weekend.
An unknown suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and stole a GPS unit and two purses between 1 and 3:20 p.m. on Saturday.
The following day, someone stole a laptop and a book bag from a vehicle that was left unlocked. This incident was reported at 3:09 p.m.
EMU Police Chief Bob Heighes, said the victims were non-students who parked their vehicles in the lot during baseball games they were attending at the stadium.
No estimate of the stolen property's value was available and there are no suspects at this time.

They really need to step up the patrols of these parking lots, I have witnessed people in the act of vandalizing cars in EMU parking lots before. Law enforcement should do their paperwork in an idling patrol car in the lots instead of at the office.

You are right...if the cops were everywhere at all times then we wouldn't have any crime. Let me guess...Next you are going to complain about pollution and wasted money from the idling cars.

I don't understand how the thieves noticed and got to these items if they were locked up and out of sight as suggested. Were there other cars broken into nearby, indicative for a desperate and random search for hidden goods?

We lock any sizable temptations in the trunk, then unplug small electronics and take them along in pocket or handbag. Have yet to lose anything, even on the streets of Detroit.

Maybe some folks have other things on their minds and just left the items on the seats ? So is it then their fault ? If so, you are blaming the victim. We don't do that for sexual assaults, why should we do it for B&E's ?
