By Lee Higgins

A man knocked a woman to the ground and stole her cell phone Thursday morning near the intersection of East Michigan Avenue and Johnson Street in Ypsilanti Township, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies said.

The victim was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with non life-threatening injuries after the 1:05 a.m. attack, a Sheriff's Department media summary said.

According to deputies, the victim was walking on East Michigan Avenue when a car drove up. A man got out and attacked her from behind, knocking her down and taking her cell phone from her pocket, the summary said.

Deputies did not have a detailed description of the man. The car was described as a red mid-1990s four-door Saturn, the summary said.
