Ypsilanti man among 12 charged in alleged drug-smuggling operation at Detroit Metro Airport
An Ypsilanti man is among 12 people charged in two major drug smuggling operations that relied on Northwest and Delta airlines baggage handlers to sneak marijuana and cocaine aboard flights headed for Detroit Metro Airport, the Detroit Free Press reported.
Huram Josephs, 41, of Ypsilanti, was among six people charged in what authorities said was a scheme to smuggle drugs from Jamaica to Detroit. The operation used airport employees in Jamaica and baggage handlers in Detroit to ship the drugs in suitcases, which were then picked up from luggage carousels at Detroit Metro Airport, law enforcement authorities said.
Josephs and the other five were all held pending a detention hearing today, the Free Press said. Six other suspects were charged in what authorities said was a scheme to fly marijuana in from Houston, the Free Press reported.

Just like the media and some readers to crucify a suspect before they are even tried. No mention of the fact that there was not a shred of evidence against him other than being black and Jamaican. Also, no mention that 2 dozen agents were sent to the quiet subdivision at 5am and with guns drawn they entered his home (no search warrant), broke his doors down and held his family, including an 8 mo pregnant wife and an 11 yo girl at the barrels of automatic guns and placed his 17 yo son in handcuffs. FYI - after 20 months and countless delays by the govt, he was placed on trial and found NOT GUILTY.

This was a POT bust? I good that international smugglers got busted. Not so impressed that the 'drug' involved is pot. SE Michigan has a huge drug problem and I believe most of the drugs involved are smuggled in...but pot, really, all you could come up with was a bunch of POT?
