Ypsilanti man chosen as 'Wonder Dad of the Year' by Wonder Bread
As a part of its Father’s Day promotion, the national brand Wonder Bread has chosen Christopher Battle of Ypsilanti as “Wonder Dad of the Year.”
“Wonder Dad of the Year” is a part of the company’s 90th anniversary celebration, in which it recognizes America’s everyday heroes. The company has and will be selecting people through nominations to feature them on the packaging of its limited-edition products on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.

Battle was recognized when one of his former employees nominated him. He was chosen among hundreds of nominees, according to his wife, Donna Battle, who believes that he was nominated because of their foster children.
“We’ve had several specialized foster children, and (Christopher) has never given up on them when others have. He always has hope and sticks by them,” Battle said.
The couple was first contacted in April and informed that they have won a trip to New York City. “We first didn’t believe it,” Battle said, “until a car pulled up in front of our house to take us to the airport.”
Christopher and Donna Battle enjoyed their complimentary stay in Times Square, where Christopher had a photo shoot with Wonder Bread. Battle’s photo from the shoot is now on the packaging of the company’s limited-edition product. Along with the trip, the couple also received a $1000 card from American Express as a part of their prize.
“Christopher has done many things to be selected as ‘Wonder Dad of the Year.’ He’s a great guy with a warm heart,” Battle said.

I remember growing up near Detroit and having a field trip into this plant. Those cute little wonder buns given to the children. That was a long time ago. Today? I wouldn't go near a wonder bread if you paid me. All it is is flour, yeast and water. No nutritional value at all. We get ours from places who know how to bake bread. Wonder yuck. Congrats to the dad though.
