Why would someone leave a laptop in their car that is unlocked on s. grove rd? She was asking for that one!

Yet another case where people leave valuables out in the open. In this case, it doesn't even matter if the doors were locked or not. Why leave anything of value out in the open, let alone some expensive electronics like a computer or iPod? Even if they're broken, who wants to go through this? Obviously, people are having their cars broken into without anything valuable in sight like in MorningGirl's case (sorry that happened, btw), but don't tempt anyone by leaving stuff in plain sight!

Morning, I can't think of a thing. Like the Police said, you did everything right. My earlier comment would not have referred to you.

My car was broken into last weekend. There was nothing of value in it except some spare change in the ash tray. A look in the window indicated nothing of value: no laptop, no GPS, no duffel bag, no anything that would make my car look like a worthy target. Not only did they smash the glass, but they actually broke the door, necessitating a several-days-stay at the body shop. Tell me, RJA, how I could have prevented this. The police officer said I did everything right.

I guess if the car doors were locked, crimals will break the glass to get anything of value out. I have a little change type (square)purse that I carry on my key chain. (lock all other valuables in the trunk). Seems as though everyone is in a hurry and not thinking of safety. On the other side of the coin, if ones computer in broke, leave it in the car to be stolen, then collect insurance to buy another one. I wonder how often this happens? (and I hope insurance companys are looking at this). Sorry for the victims, but they could prevent this.

In today's world you have to lock your door at all times. Look at how many people leave their car unlocked while going into a gas station. Just a few moments and car is gone or items stolen from it. Same with school ladies. In a hurry to get child into school many, many, times a purse is left behind in the unlocked car. GONE!
