YCUA receives pollution prevention award
The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority has been honored for its efforts to prevent pollution.
YCUA announced it received an honorable mention for Pollution Prevention for 2009. The Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention Program is responsible for inspecting facilities that store, manufacture, or use hazardous, toxic, or polluting materials.
During the recent award ceremony, Washtenaw County Environmental Program Supervisor Jeff Krcmarik said YCUA was recognized for its chemical inventory reporting, which details all chemicals stored at the authority’s facilities.Â
The reporting aids local police and fire departments in preparing their staff members for any emergency at YCUA’s facilities. Krcmarik also mentioned YCUA treats more than 8 billion gallons of wastewater annually before discharging into the Rouge River.

Question: Who is YUCA, as mentioned in the title? Sorry it's taken so long to notice.
