Change is good
The phone call came from the manager a few weeks later saying the position was being eliminated and gave me a few choices to make. Lots of life is timing, and after much thought I knew it was time to move on.
This was no longer the same job I enjoyed and felt great satisfaction doing. The company had regrouped a few times and the systems and measureables all changed. I believed I would be working forever or atleast until I was physically able in this position.
When I went back to work in the late 1980's it was a new world for me. My company embraced my having young children at home and allowed me flexibility and part time work. I was coveted for the good work I did and I was a devoted employee. I learned to use computers and was trained in ultimate customer service. I met many great designers like Donna Karan, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, Dana Buchman and Eli Tahari.
At this stage of my life I am starting again, but this time I want to share some of my knowlede and experiences with you while I learn this new world. I am fascinated with this new social media of blogging, Facebook, and twittering. I am in awe of all the choices women have today. I want to learn but I also want to share what I have learned from my personal experiences.
Ann Arbor is a great town with diverse businesses and people. We all shop and we should should all be doing our best to support local business. Even older businesses in town are being challenged. Don't always think the big stores have the best deals and best personal service.

Thanks Barbara, you'll provide me something to look forward to on this website. I always liked the weekly retail update in the Ann Arbor News. We need to support our local businesses. Hopefully you will help fill the gap now that we no longer have a newspaper.
