Celebrate the wonders of possibility and positivity
The blush of the New Year is here, bringing with it thoughts, desires, intentions, and goals for an upgraded version of ourselves. This video by Dewitt Jones, National Geographic photographer, does a wonderful job describing the importance of vision and living a life of possibility. I am a big proponent of creating a life vision that will lead us through and to the life we so dearly want, a life of possibilities and positivity. A life of openness and giving back. A life of creative energy and love. Check it out.

Life may be miserable, but it would be more miserable without exceptional, creative people who contribute to science and create works of art. Becoming a National Geographic photographer is not all talent and luck; there is no success in any field without infinite devotion and maniacal work. Also, I don't think it makes sense to compare a well-known photographer to a well-known moron.

Classic. The National Geographic photographer who is paid to find pretty pictures is happy and content. What a surprise! Taking advice on how to live your life from people who are exceptional is nonsense. I'd probably be pretty blised out if it were my job to wander around the Andes looking for the perfect picture. Too bad I wasn't born with the talent and luck to become a photographer for National Geographic. This guy doesn't have the secret to happiness any more than Kanye West, who would probably tell you the key to happiness is to buy some Cristal, surround yourself with beautiful people and buy a nice tour bus. His BUSINESS is to sell hope to sad people and he knows what you want to hear. I'd like to find a self-help guru who would admit that we're at the mercy of circumstances. That we need to make the best of things because life is short. That we're not all going to be happy all the time. That being a pessimist is fine, because you'll always be pleasantly surprised when bad things are avoided. That we can't control reality just by wishing hard enough. That, even if we could control the world, we wouldn't be any happier because that's how people are. That good things happen to bad people. That tomorrow isn't necessarily going to be any better than today, no matter how hard we try. Problem is, it wouldn't sell very well, so no one would stand to make a buck off of other people's misery.
