Learn new skills or form a big '350' on the Diag for climate action
First, the huge part: Saturday, Oct. 24 is the 350.org International Day of Climate Action. There will be over 4,000 events taking place in more than 175 nations. Bill McKibben, co-founder and Director of 350.org, describes this day of action as "one of the single most widespread days of political action about any issue that our planet has ever seen".
Tomorrow's 350.org event on the Diag in Ann Arbor is Saturday the 24th from 1-4 p.m.
A mass of Ann Arbor residents and U of M students will be forming the number "350" on the diag. An aerial photo will be taken of the formation, which will be one of thousands of actions across the world. Come wearing maize and blue to show your U of M pride. There will be music from the band, Groove, face painting, and giant inflatable earth balls to climb into and roll around in.
Now for the hip part: If you are looking for an event you can report back to Grandma on - or take her along to - it might be time to head over to the Ann Arbor Fall Reskilling Festival that Elizabeth Palmer wrote about yesterday.
The Reskilling Festival is on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10:00am to 4:30 p.m. at the Rudolf Steiner High School, 2230 Pontiac Trail, Ann Arbor. Check out the Ann Arbor Fall Reskilling Festival Schedule (pdf).
It is your chance to relearn all of those hip "new" skills that have fallen by the wayside, but more than likely your grandparents and their parents were more than familiar with. The event is brought to you by Transition Ann Arbor with the Rudolf Steiner High School and is part of the 350.org International Day of Climate Action.Reskilling is all about sustainable living and acquiring new skills related to what we eat and the things we wear, use and live in. There are 30 reskilling sessions to choose among -- from making and growing food in hoop-houses, to solar water heating, to making herbal shampoo.
Join in on the Diag or at the Reskilling Festival to be a part of the 350.org International Day of Action!

Thank you for this amazing post. Both events I would not have known about otherwise. Please keep us in the loop about climate change events!

Very cool, Jennifer. I wasn't aware of the Diag event - sounds like a cool thing to be a part of.
