Have you started your Holiday shopping yet? Kidding! Kidding! Why would I start a conversation about holiday shopping when the leaves aren’t even starting to fall yet?

I know, I know, it is only September, but have you already been thinking about what you want to buy for those special people in your life that you commemorate whatever it is you like to celebrate near the end of the year? I confess, I’ve been thinking and I’ve been buying.

And I know I am not the only one getting ready for the busy shopping season.

I just spoke to Maura Thomson, director of the Main Street Area Association. She let me in on a secret. She has a big plan for shopping and fun Nov. 13-19 on Main Street. The idea is so new, she is not even sure what they are calling it yet. The plan involves starting your holiday shopping early, a window display contest, and of course, getting in on some big sales.

So, this is just a heads up to mark your calendar. Black Friday still has its place, but the week before is is also a good time to hit downtown.
