Myths and misconceptions on weight loss
A lot of people seem to be focused on weight loss right now with the beginning of the year. Some may have started off strong and are starting to falter a bit now that we are in the first week of February. This week I have decided to include some common myths and misconceptions on weight loss.
If you start an exercise program, you’ll lose body fat. To lose body fat you have to create a calorie deficit for the entire day. Exercise can help but is often overrated as a way to reduce body fat. Exercise can help boost your metabolism and increase your desire to fuel yourself healthfully.
To lose body fat, do low-intensity, fat-burning exercise.
To lose fat, you need to create a calorie deficit for the day. Research suggests that those who do high-intensity exercise tend to have less body fat than those who do lower-intensity fat-burning exercise
Men are more likely to lose weight with exercise than are women TRUE! Nature wants women to have fat and be fertile; men are supposed to be lean hunters
To reduce the fat around the stomach and hips, you should incorporate sit-ups into your exercise program. You can’t reduce fat cells in one localized area. You need to create a calorie deficit for the day to lose body fat.
If you become injured and are unable to exercise for a week, your muscles will turn to fat. Muscle and fat are separate entities and are not interchangeable. Muscles may lose their tone but won’t turn to fat. If you overeat you will become fatter.
Cellulite is a special kind of fat that appears after a person has repeatedly gained and lost weight.
Little is understood about cellulite. Some medical professionals believe that the bumpy appearance of cellulite may result from restrictions of connective tissue separating fat cells into compartments. Women are more afflicted by cellulite because their skin is thinner and their fat compartments are larger and more rounded

David Letterman joke "I saw an ad in a magazine today, 'Lose weight without diet or exercise'. That pretty much leaves disease." My take away from this article was the repeated statement, "To lose fat, you need to create a calorie deficit for the day."
