In anticipation of up to a foot of snowfall between 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, the City of Ann Arbor and Recycle Ann Arbor are announcing that there will be no residential trash or recycling pickups on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Starting Wednesday, the residential trash and recycling pickups will be delayed one day from the normal collection days.

The normal Wednesday residential trash and recycling routes will be collected on Thursday, with pickups delayed one day throughout the remaining week and the normal Friday routes picked up on Saturday, Feb. 5. Please place trash and recycling carts at the curb after the streets have been plowed and before 7 a.m. on the revised collection day.

As of Monday morning, the National Weather Service is predicting eight to 12 inches of snowfall in the Ann Arbor area starting Tuesday afternoon. Ann Arbor’s street maintenance unit plans to activate additional staffing and plows for this snow event. Ann Arbor residents and commuters are strongly advised to use alternatives to on-street parking from Tuesday afternoon until Friday afternoon in order to allow the snow plows maximum access to clear the streets. The city will post on the web at www.a2gov.org/snow the status of street clearing, by neighborhood. Interested citizens may sign up for free e-mail notification of the street plowing locations by clicking on the red envelope for GovDelivery on a2gov.org/snow.

For 24-hour information on the city’s solid waste services, please phone 734-99-GREEN or consult the city’s website at a2gov.org/recycle.
