Dog stays by his friend's side amid the devastation in Japan
The catastrophe in Japan has yielded so much in the way of reports and images of the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami.
Something that you might not have seen was quite amazing.
In the Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast Japan, footage was captured of two canines — one seriously wounded, the other obviously cold, bewildered and staying by his buddy's side.
Both dogs were rescued by Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support and are receiving veterinary care.
A poignant video of the dogs follows.

Americans aren't the only ones touched by the plight of animals, obviously. There's always some insensitive person that, in a tragedy like this, wonders why people are wasting time caring about animals when so many people are dead or injured - as if compassion is finite and can't be extended to all creatures.
