One dog's unique life: She swims with the dolphins
We often hear of dogs that lead lives that seem a bit unusual than what we are accustomed to seeing. From service animals and social support therapy dogs to dogs that are part of a K-9 unit, therapy dogs that assist in helping soldiers escape a bit from what is going on around them and even military working dogs, there seems to be no limit to what these animals can do.
One dog, a black Labrador who lives with her human, Noleen Withers in Mozambique, has a very unique life. Kira gets to swim with wild dolphins on a regular basis.
Withers is founder of Somente Aqua Dolphin Centre in Ponta de Ouro, a facility that leads dolphin excursions off of the African coast.
According to the website, “Kira is an ordinary dog with extraordinary friends. Each day, she leaves boring canine pursuits on the shore and heads out to sea to do something much more exciting: swim with wild dolphins.”
Kira accompanies the trips out on the water and has acquired the moniker, "dolphin-spotter."

I gather that Noleen always swims with Kira. It looks like Kira gets tired before Noleen does. I had expecteed to see her interacting with the dolphins, but then the article says the dolphins are wild ones. They appear to avoid Kira. Noleen must be strong to lift Kira out of the water. I've never forgotten one dog contest winner, another black labrador, who would run off a pier into a lake to retrieve something tossed into the water half a minute earlier.
