Frontier Airlines allowing small pets on board

The AP reports:
The airline said Wednesday it would let passengers bring along their small dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters or small birds for $75 each way. That matches the price charged by another low-fare carrier, Southwest Airlines, which began allowing customers to bring small pets on board last year.
...The pets must fit in a carrier that goes under an airplane seat and must have proper health documentation. Spokeswoman Lindsey Purves said customers should have their vet complete a health form for the animal within 10 days of the trip.
The airline lets bigger pets fly as checked baggage for a $150 fee.

I do agree, it does seem unfair. However, I would never put my pet in cargo. I have lost my luggage nine times, not even to think about how much damage has been done to it. I am glad to see that they are allowing small animals in the cabin. This leaves your options open. And just like people, most travel quite well.

Great $75 (most likely each leg of the flight), for what is equivalent to a free carry-on in size. You forgo another carry-on while being charged for this "service or benefit". Why should there be any fee? Adults and kid vomit frequently, but they don't get charged for the cleanup. Pet owners get billed for absolutely nothing. The pet can not leave the crate during the flight, so any "accidents" if they occur are contained and require no additional work by the airline. Regarding potential odors, I'll take a dog over half the people I've sat next too on flights any day. Having traveled (and charged each leg) on airline with a pet, we were put next to the engines in the back of the jet. Our dog made no fuss or noise, unlike the screaming kids all around us.
