Funky, weird animal facts

Cat urine glows in the dark under ultraviolet light.


Baby rats are referred to as "bucks" and "does".

A substance secreted by the African Clawed Frog's skin is isolated, synthesized and used to help combat skin ulcers in humans. (I had one as a client that lived to 22 years of age. Crazy, huh?)


Chinchillas have been known to be good jumpers, easily jumping up to five feet high.


Frogs live on every continent except Antartica.


Cats do not have eyelashes.


Basenjis cannot bark.


Both dogs and cats are either right or left "pawed."


No two nose prints of dogs and cats are alike. (But smeared on your patio door, they all look the same!)


Cats do not meow at each other. They only meow at humans.


Bats
only turn left when exiting a cave.


Dalmatians are sometimes born completely white, and their spots come in gradually in the following couple of weeks.


Evidently, cats cannot see just under their nose. (Which explains why my cat doesn't see the treats that I toss him... hmmmm...)


Chinchillas must regularly bathe in dust or volcanic ash to remove oil and moisture that gathers in their thick fur.


A hedgehog's heart beats roughly 300 times per minute.
