Meet a miniature Dachshund looking for a caring home - Max, the Ann Arbor.com Pet of the Week

Max is available for adoption at the Humane Society of Huron Valley

This handsome miniature Dachshund mix was born deaf and with limited eye-sight. Yes, he has some limitations but the joy and love he can give to his family have no limitations at all. He is healthy and will be immensely happy as soon as he gets adopted.

Max is a little over a year old and came to the Humane Society of Huron Valley from a breeder who no longer wanted him. Once Max gets to know you he’s affectionate and funny. He loves to play with his toys and then crawl into your lap. He gets very excited to be with you, and he will make a wonderful companion for the right family. Max will need a patient family who understands small dogs, and because he’s deaf, a home with children older than 12 would be best.

If you have room in your heart and home for a small dog with special needs, we hope you will come to HSHV and meet Max.

HSHV is open daily at 11 a.m. for adoptions. All pets available for adoption are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, medically and behaviorally evaluated, and they have a microchip ID all included in their low adoption fee. Please make adoption your first option.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley, located in Ann Arbor, was awarded the “Best Large Animal Shelter in Michigan” by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance, for the second time in a row this year, for saving the most lives. HSHV is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies solely on donations from businesses and individuals to support our community programs.

HSHV is not affiliated with the Michigan Humane Society or any other humane organization. The mission of HSHV is to promote responsible and compassionate care of all animals in our community.
