Pumpkin, a rare, female orange tabby cat, waiting for adoption at the Humane Society of Huron Valley

If you’ve been waiting for that rare, all orange female tabby cat, your wait is over. Pumpkin is ready to meet you at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. Male orange tabby cats out-number females 3 to 1, so Pumpkin is a special girl in more ways than one.

Pumpkin has been waiting for a loving family since the beginning of May when her owners lost their home due to a foreclosure. It’s been a little adjustment for this affectionate cat who longs to hop up on the couch and into her person’s warm lap. It is a complete mystery to us why Pumpkin has not been adopted sooner.

Take a look at her short video and we hope you will come to HSHV and visit Pumpkin in person. We think you will see what our staff and volunteers see — a slightly plump but adoring cat who craves attention and furry mice to swat around and make you laugh.

Pumpkin is 6 years old, and she has lived with other cats, so with a proper introduction she might adjust to other felines just fine. We think she would prefer a quiet home, because loud noises seem to startle her. Pumpkin is not afraid to roll over and give you her tummy to pat, and when she gets real comfortable with you, she will nudge you with her head for more attention.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley, located in Ann Arbor, was recently awarded the ‘Best Large Animal Shelter in Michigan” by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance for saving the most lives. HSHV is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies solely on donations from businesses and individuals to support our community programs.

HSHV is not affiliated with the Michigan Humane Society or any other humane organization. The mission of HSHV is to promote responsible and compassionate care of all animals in our community.
