Each year the staff and volunteers at HSHV gear-up to care for literally hundreds of kittens that are born to female cats who have not been fixed. We all agree that kittens are adorable but caring for them takes countless man hours. Many infant kittens will need to be bottle-fed, or socialized until they are old enough to be sterilized and placed up for adoption. The average length of stay for a kitten at HSHV is around 6 weeks, and when you consider that we have around 100 in the shelter and 155 in HSHV foster homes right now, the enormity of the situation is clear.

This playful tiger kitten is Nala. She was found as an infant, spent five weeks at HSHV and is now ready to be adopted. She is friendly, playful (as you can tell from her photo), and adorable, of course.

Right now if you adopt one kitten, you can get another wonderful kitten playmate for FREE. Now is the time to adopt your new best friend at HSHV — Love Starts Here!

HSHV is open daily at 11 a.m. for adoptions. All pets available for adoption are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, medically and behaviorally evaluated, and they have a microchip ID all included in their low adoption fee. Please make adoption your first option.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley, located in Ann Arbor, was awarded the "Best Large Animal Shelter in Michigan" by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance, for the second time in a row this year, for saving the most lives.
