Pet Photo Friday: swimming buddies, cool cats and more

By Lorrie Shaw

We invite our readers to interact here on the pets section any chance we get, and one thing is evident: People are passionate about their companion animals, no matter what breed they are. And as we see at the end of each week, they like to show off their cute pet photos!

It's always fun to see what our readers' lives are like with their own pets and other animals, and there are always interesting stories to tell.

This week, you'll see area dogs and cats, including a pair of pooches who took advantage of the annual Buhr Park Dog Swim, a dog who made it through his dental cleaning, another who isn't fond of thunderstorms and a sweet girl who is waiting for a forever home.

It's all in good fun!

Participating in our weekly photo blog is easy — simply email a photo of your pet to ppsa2mi@gmail.com any time for our weekly Pet Photo Friday feature.

Next week's slideshow is special: we want to see your pets being extra good. You'll recall that earlier this week, the topic of Dog Faming was featured. Knowing how many loveable pets share lives with our readers and are a joy to be around, we want to feature them being at their best.

How have you caught your pet being good lately? Share your photo, along with a little back story on what they do best. Do they give a "sit" when you ask for it? What about when you open a entry door -- do they stay back from it when it's opened, despite their curiosity? Do they avoid diving for dropped food when you accidentally drop something?

Along with a brief description of your dog's good behavior, be sure to include the name of the animal(s), as well as their age and city or township of residence in your email. Photos should be 1,200 pixels wide and in .jpg format.

We'll put the photos into a slideshow, publish and promote it next Friday here in the Pets section.

I wish mine would go in without assistance. Otherwise the dog swim looks like fun. As for the sleeping dog on bed? Yup that is mine too.
