Black Friday discounts that lured shoppers to the malls helped power the 12th straight week of retail sales gains, according to a report this morning from Bloomberg.

According to the report, "sales at stores open at least a year climbed 3.1 percent in the week ended Nov. 28 from a year earlier, the International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said."

That follows a National Retail Federation report on Sunday that said the number of shoppers rose though average spending fell.
