DREAM TEAM
Kyle Anderson, (sr.) Pioneer: A senior driver for the Pioneers, Anderson was named first team All-East Region, scored five goals against Huron and was a second-team all-tournament selection at the state championships. Anderson's ability to create mismatches created scoring opportunities for the high-powered Pioneer offense, and he displayed an ability to distribute effectively when offenses keyed on him.

Jesse Claflin (sr.), Dexter: The centerpiece of the Dexter offense. Sidelined by pneumonia, and then the flu, for nearly a month, Claflin's (and his team's) production took a noticeable dip in the middle of the season. When he was in the pool, the Dreadnaughts were a different team. He was a second team All-East region selection.

Grant Cole (sr.), Pioneer: Cole was the Pioneers' best two-way player and one of the best in the state as evidenced by his first team All-Region selection, and first-team all-tournament selection at the state championships. Cole effectively defends from anywhere in the pool. He was also one of the Pioneers' leading scorers despite often having the formidable task of covering the opposition's most dangerous offensive weapons.

Austin Daugherty (jr.), Dexter: The 6-foot, 5-inch junior was a nighmare for Dexter's opposition on both ends of the pool. Daugherty's size and athletic ability made him an effective defender, and he had to assume the role of the Dreadnaughts' go-to finisher when Claflin was sidelined. Daugherty excelled in the role, scoring five goals in a district game against Huron and finishing as Dexter's leading scorer on the season. He was honorable mention for the All-East Region team.

David Hasegan (jr.), Huron: The only returning starter from Huron's 2008 state championship team, Hasegan is the total package physically with exceptional size and strength. Defenses knew the River Rats were looking to get him the ball in the hole on almost every attack, and would game plan accordingly, but that didn't stop him from being Huron's leading scorer. Hasegan was a first-team all-tournament selection at the state championships.

Keeley Maher (sr.), Huron: In his first year as a starter, Maher made up for a lack of varsity experience with exceptional speed and an eye for the net. Huron's fastest swimmer, Maher would lead the River Rat counterattack, and often times finished it as well. Maher was a second team All-East Region selection and honorable mention for the all-tournament team at the state championships.

Kevin Smith, Pioneer: The senior goalie is a two-time East Region MVP, was second-team All-State as a junior, and a second-team all-tournament selection at the state championships and the AnnArbor.com Washtenaw County Player of the Year. Coach Will Hart describes Smith as a "game changer in net." Smith even showed an ability to contribute offensively, scoring the game-winning goal in a shootout versus Rockford early in the season.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Will Hart, Pioneer: Led Pioneer to a 33-6 record and a third-place finish in the state tournament. Pioneer never fell below No. 2 in the team rankings and was ranked No. 1 in eight of the season's 11 weekly polls. In addition to being district and regional champions, the Pioneers took first at the Rockford Invitational and Grand Haven's Shootout at the Shore.
