Adrian Witty still waiting on eligibility ruling so he can join Michigan football team
Freshman cornerback Adrian Witty said Sunday he retook the SAT last week in an attempt to gain eligibility in time to play this fall.
Witty said he's home in Florida, sometimes working out with his old high school team and keeping in touch with Michigan coaches while he waits on a stamp of approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse.
The only member of Michigan's 2009 class not on campus, Witty said he took the test Monday, by himself, at Deerfield Beach High School.
"I think I did good on it," Witty said.
Though it's unlikely he'll see the field this year even if he's cleared, Witty said he's holding out hope for immediate playing time.
"It all depends on when I get back and what coaches want to do," Witty said, adding he doesn't know when he'll learn results of the test.
"I'm just going by what I’m hearing and just going from there," he said. "My coaches have been calling me and letting me know what’s up, what’s practice been going through. I'm just waiting to be cleared."
Michigan opens the 2009 season Saturday against Western Michigan.
