Area bicyclists to ride in annual DALMAC Tour in early Sept.
Several Ann Arbor-area residents are slated to ride in the 39th annual Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinaw (DALMAC) bicycle tour early next month.
DALMAC, founded in 1971 by former State Senator Dick Allen, offers riders a choice of five routes beginning on either Wed., Sept. 2, or Thursday, Sept. 3, and ending on Sun., Sept. 6, in either Mackinaw City or DeTour Village, depending on route chosen. This year’s routes range in distance from 303 miles to 414 miles. Over 2,200 riders are expected to participate in the 2009 tour. Ann Arbor rider Thomas Zempel, will ride his 27th DALMAC this year.
