Busy sports week causes postponement of MSU basketball media day, cancels Ron English radio show

It’s a great time to be a sports fan in the state of Michigan, but the crush of big games is having an impact elsewhere.

Eastern Michigan University announced Monday that football coach Ron English’s weekly radio show has been canceled due to a broadcast conflict on WTKA (1050 AM) with Game 2 of the Detroit Tigers’ American League Championship Series against the Texas Rangers.

That game, with first pitch scheduled for 4:19 p.m., will overlap the typical 6 p.m. time slot for The Eagle Nation Insider Coach’s Show. The show will return on Monday, Oct. 17.

In East Lansing, Michigan State has postponed its basketball media day originally scheduled for Wednesday. A new date has not been announced.

John Lewandowski, MSU associate athletic director, said the postponement was made to accommodate the large amount of media covering the Tigers and doing preview work for the Michigan at Michigan State football game Saturday.

The Michigan basketball media day is Tuesday.
