Butler did it: Bulldogs soccer teams beat Michigan men, EMU women

Before Friday night’s game at the U-M Soccer Complex, former Michigan assistant coach Paul Snape received his 2010 College Cup Final Four ring.

Then Snape watched his new team, Butler, beat the Wolverines in dramatic fashion.

Butler scored twice in the first eight minutes of the second half and handed Michigan a 2-1 loss in its home opener Friday night.

Fabio Villas Boas Pereira -- who missed a potential game-tying penalty kick with 11 second remaining -- scored an unassisted goal in the first half to give the Wolverines (0-3) a 1-0 halftime lead.

Butler’s Austin Oldham tied it just 46 seconds into the second half and Adekunle Oluyedun scored the game winner four minutes later. (Boxscore)

"This was a great win for our players. Michigan came out flying and we had to make some changes," Snape told ButlerSports.com. "I told the players at halftime that they have to believe in each other, and they came out and played a terrific half."
