Pioneer High School senior Nathan Karr is one of the elite distance runners from across the country competing in Saturday's Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in San Diego, Calif.

The 40 fastest male runners and the 40 fastest female runners from across the nation will participate in 31st-annual 5,000-meter race at Balboa Park.

Karr qualified for the national championships by finishing fourth in one of four regional 5K races on Nov. 28.

The event starts with runner introductions at 11:30 a.m. EST. The girls championship race starts at 12:15 p.m. and the boys race follows at 1 p.m. A live webcast with all of the action will start at 11 a.m. at www.footlockercc.com.
