Defensive battle with Chelsea turns Saline's way late

The Saline High School girls basketball team's defense is its calling card, but the Hornets have had some trouble on the offensive end.

Ditto for Chelsea.

So something had to give when those two teams met up Friday night in the second game of a varsity doubleheader at Chelsea High School, and the Hornets' Kaitlin Ward capitalized during the narrowest window of opportunity.

The senior guard swung the momentum of the game midway through the fourth quarter and Saline escaped with a 50-42 non-conference win.
