Dexter High School has hosted a boy's basketball holiday tournament for most of the past 16 years, and for most of those 16 years the trophy ceremony was the last time championship hardware was seen inside city limits.

That wasn't the case Wednesday night, as the Dreadnaughts defeated South Lyon 42-35 to lay claim to its first holiday title since 1999.

Despite the end result, coach Randy Swoverland was anything but pleased with his team's performance.

"I'm glad that we won and everything, but I'm not happy with where we're at as a team right now and how we're playing," Swoverland said. "I think that we just have a lot of areas that need improvement and we gotta do that quickly because our league schedule's coming up here pretty quick and we gotta get better in a hurry." MORE BOYS RESULTS Milford 91, Whitmore Lake 74: With its unique run-and-gun style of play, the Whitmore Lake boys basketball team has a laundry list of opponents who have scored career-highs against them.

Add Milford guards Chris Cunningham and Joseph Miller to that list.

Cunningham scored 26 points while his backcourt partner Miller dropped 39, the most by a Milford player since the early 1950's, as the Mavericks beat Whitmore Lake, 91-74. (Rest of the story | Boxscore)
