Eastern Michigan basketball team will spend plenty of time on the road

By Staff

An Eastern Michigan basketball schedule that starts with a trip to Michigan State and includes a pair of in-season tournaments is “definitely a very challenging one,” according to Eagles coach Charles E. Ramsey.

The Eagles will play 12 home games and 13 on the road, according to the complete 2010-11 schedule released by the school today.

“We had 14 home games last season and now we have to return some of those games and with two tournaments on the road that makes for a lot of time away from the Convocation Center.,” Ramsey said in a release.

The Eagles open their regular season at the Breslin Center in East Lansing on Nov. 12 and has non-conference games at Canisius (Nov. 20), James Madison (Nov. 27) and Samford (Dec. 30).

Eastern will join host Oakland University, Valparaiso and Rochester College in the Lou Henson Tournament on Dec. 20-21 and then travel to Moscow, Idaho, for the Basketball Travelers Invitational with host Idaho, North Dakota and Monmouth College.

There are only three home non-conference games on the schedule - Madonna on Nov. 17, Drake on Dec. 8 and Detroit on Dec. 11 - before Eastern starts its 16-game Mid-American Conference regular-season schedule.
