Criner replaces Randy Stewart, who spent one season coaching EMU’s linebackers before leaving for a position at California after last season.

Criner has spent the last six seasons at Idaho, after stints at Minnesota, Middle Tennessee State, Cincinnati and others.

Criner’s hiring is the sixth addition to EMU's coaching staff since the end of the 2012 season. That includes Stan Parrish being hired as offensive coordinator and new position coaches for the secondary, offensive line and special teams.
