Eastern Michigan likely to name new men's basketball coach Thursday

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Eastern Michigan likely will name its new basketball coach Thursday at an 11 a.m. press conference. Syracuse assistant coach Rob Murphy is "under strong consideration," for the position, The Daily Orange reported Wednesday.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said Wednesday that reports Murphy has accepted the job were premature. "I've heard there's an announcement scheduled for Thursday, but I don't really know for sure," he said.

Murphy, a Detroit native, has been at Syracuse since 2004. He's also been an assistant at Kent State.
