The Eastern Michigan women's basketball team played just one game last week, but Tavelyn James made the most of the limited opportunity.

The senior guard was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week after scoring 40 points in an 83-47 win against Kent State on Saturday. James went 10-of-20 from 3-point range, setting a school record and tying a conference mark for most 3-pointers in a game.

It's the seventh time James has won the award in her career.

The 40-point total was two shy of her own single-game school record and pushed her into third place on the MAC's all-time scoring list.

The Eagles (17-7, 9-2) travel to Western Michigan (6-18, 3-8) on Wednesday.
