Eastern Michigan women's basketball beats Temple, 65-56
The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team got 13 points and 16 rebounds from Cassie Schrock in a 65-56 win over Temple at the Convocation Center Tuesday night.
The 16 rebounds were a career-high for the 5-foot-9 Schrock.
Tavelyn James struggled from the field, hitting just 3 of 17 shots, but was a perfect 10-for-10 at the foul line and led the Eagles with 17 points. Paige Reddit added 14 points for Eastern Michigan (7-5), which snapped what had been a five-game win streak for Temple (7-5).
The Eagles took a 12-point lead into halftime after James made one of her four steals, raced down the court as the final seconds ticked off the clock, and made a layup just before the buzzer sounded.
But the Owls got hot after halftime, beginning the second half with a 10-2 run that closed the margin to 36-32.
The Eagles answered with a 14-2 run of their own, and kept the Owls at a comfortable distance for the rest of the game.
Eastern Michigan will take Wednesday off and then return to action, hosting Illinois-Chicago at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
