Eastern Michigan women's basketball holds on at Misouri-Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team started a two-game swing through the Show Me State with a 64-58 win at Missouri-Kansas City on Wednesday night. The Eagles (5-2) led by as many as 21 points in the second half before the host Kangaroos (3-4) began chipping away, getting within two, 60-58, in the final minute.
Eastern senior guard Sydney Huntley hit a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left and, following a UMKC missed 3-pointer, the Eagles added a late lay-in for the final score.
Huntley and Paige Redditt scored 19 points apiece for the Eagles, who have won four straight. Tavelyn James added 16 points for Eastern while UMKC was led by Ashli Hill's 11 points.
Eastern will make the 177-mile trip to Springfield, Mo., to play Missouri State on Friday night.
