By AnnArbor.com Staff

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A season-high 29 points from junior Tavelyn James weren't nearly enough in the Eastern Michigan women's basketball team's 72-57 loss at Missouri State on Friday night.

Missouri State forwards Jasmine Malone and Christiana Shorter combined for 33 points and 25 rebounds to help the Lady Bears to a 60-33 rebound advantage. That rebound margin is a new JQH Arena record.

The Eagles struggled offensively, hitting 17 of 65 shots (26.2 percent) compared to 22 of 55 (40 percent) for Missouri State.

The Lady Bears never trailed, jumping out to a 17-3 lead in the game's first seven minutes. The advantage was 24 points with three minutes left in the opening half.
