SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team completed play at the three-day Hispanic College Fund Challenge with a 75-61 loss to host Missouri State on Sunday night.
Caleb Patterson and Nafis Ricks scored 13 points each to lead the Bears, who led 40-21 at halftime and by as much as 24 in the second half.
Missouri State (4-0) led 48-24 at the 16:56 mark of the second half after a basket by Ryan Jehle. The Eagles, who never led, rallied with a 19-7 run to cut the Bears' lead to 55-43 with 11:57 left.
The Bears didn't score a field goal in the final 5:59 after taking a 73-54 lead, but Eastern Michigan continued to come up empty on offense including one play at the 2:40 mark that saw the Eagles miss four straight put backs.
The Eagles shot 34.4 percent for the game. Missouri State made 55.1 percent of its shots, including 7 of 16 3-pointers.
Brandon Bowdry had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Eastern Michigan and EMUEagles.com reports he was named to the HCF Challenge All-Tournament Team.
Jay Higgins had 12 points and Jamell Harris added 10 for Eastern Michigan.
Missouri State, which opened the season with a win over Auburn, swept all three of its tournament games. Eastern Michigan lost to The Citadel on Friday and beat Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday.
