Fighting at the fair grounds on Day 1 of A2 Fest

By Courtney Sacco

Day one of the A2 Fest at the Washtenaw Farm Council Fairgrounds kicked off on Friday night with an exhibition of amateur mixed martial arts competition. In addition to the having bands on three musical stages and a techno barn, A2 Fest featured seven fights from the Michigan Combat League.

The noise, for it certainly wasn't music, that emanated from this event was appalling! It is unbelivable that it was allowed. The volume, as it infringed on the rights of nearby residents, brought words of filth that were unimaginable. It is not inconceivable that a class action lawsuit against the event's promoters and the fairgrounds will be in the works. This should nt happen again.

(I understand why you're angry about the event, and I heard some of it so I agree, but you're confused with regard to the lawsuit concept)

Do yourself a favor and talk to an actual lawyer, or even just someone with a basic understanding of our legal system, before proceeding further.

A lawsuit on what grounds, out of curiosity?

It's fortunate that Horner got the best medical care on god's green earth. That dr. Is legendary. Pretty sure he played football for UM.

I heard Horner trains at one of the most elite gyms in Rocky River California.

The Horner fight was awesome.

Agreed. I thought his opponent was going to end it in the second round as Horner looked a little green in his debut. I think Horner's superior conditioning paid off in the end.

I am beyond disappointed that this excuse for entertainment is happening in our community. Even more appalled that actual locals pay for and watch it.

"A2 fest" - because nothing says "Ann Arbor" quite like cage fighting at the fairgrounds in Saline. ?

You score a tough - but fair - card, ThinkingOne. I'll take the loss, by my count a 4-2 in Brad's favor. If you're going to give Brad points on the most commonly used name (Saline Fairgrounds) and largest event (Saline fair) then it's only fair to give me one for A2 Fest being held their. For the record, I'm writing out of the thriving metropolis of Tecumseh. PS I really enjoyed Courtney's photos, what did you guys think?

This is another one of those things like calling the Campus area in Ann Area 'downtown'. There is what historically has been done and most people recognize; and what other people do differently, and can cite reasons for doing so. Let's check it out: Actual name: Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds (neither Ann Arbor nor Saline is in it) Most commonly used name: Saline Fairgrounds. Actual location: neither Ann Arbor nor Saline. ..note that Brad says closer to Saline ..Pete says 'may seem' closer to Saline, implying closer to Ann Arbor Address: Ann Arbor Phone number: Saline School system: Saline Biggest event held there: Saline Fair Most commonly used name: Saline Fairgrounds Going to give it to Brad at this point - WFCG doesn't really say Ann Arbor. Although if this event becomes big, it might. No one complained that the Ann Arbor Antique Show (back when it was HUGE!) was at WFCG. Note to Pete: I am guessing you are from a bigger metropolitan area? In those areas, zip codes and mailing addresses and school systems pretty much align with city boundaries. Out here where there is (was?) lots of undeveloped / farm land between cities and towns, you didn't get your own post office. Your mail would come from either the Ann Arbor post office or the Saline post office or the Dexter post office, etc. But it never really meant you lived in Ann Arbor or Saline or Dexter; any more than from which phone exchange your phone was routed through. Communities aren't built around post office or telephone company conveniences. If ever you don't really know how in-between areas identify THEMSELVES, I would recommend defaulting to the school system. That is more likely to be what ties things together for people.

Ann Arbor *mailing* address, still closer to Saline than Ann Arbor. Check a map.

The fairgrounds may seem closer to Saline than Ann Arbor, but it is actually an Ann Arbor address.
