Former Michigan star outfielder Casey Close is Derek Jeter's agent

Former Michigan baseball player Casey Close starred as an outfielder in 1986, was drafted by the New York Yankees, but never made it to the major leagues.

These days, he's making a name for himself as the agent for Derek Jeter as the longtime Yankees shortstop goes through the toughest contract negotiations of his career. The New York Times profiles Close's transition from player to agent.
