Twelve score for Greenhills in big win over Eastern Washtenaw Multicultural Academy

By Bison Collins Messink

The Greenhills girls basketball team took control in the opening minutes of a 56-10 home win over Eastern Washtenaw Multicultural Academy Tuesday, but the Gryphons loudest cheer didn't come until the game's closing minute.

Greenhills (3-2) scored the game's first 18 points, shutting out the Chargers in the first quarter, but the Gryphons were never so excited as when Astra Tucker nailed a jumper with a minute left in the game—meaning that all 12 Gryphons scored.

"Everybody got on the stat sheet, so that was cool to see," said Greenhills coach Lisa Mack. "It was really good teamwork, and always our first goal is defense, and they did a great job on defense."

EWMA (2-2) didn't get on the board until Kinaya Muridi hit a jumper halfway through the second quarter.

Greenhills took a 21-2 lead into halftime, but Muridi got hot in the second quarter for the Chargers. She hit three shots in a row, including two 3-pointers. Muridi's hot shooting narrowed the lead to 25-10, and brought the Greenhills starting unit back onto the floor.
