DREAM TEAM

Bryce Bradley (jr.), Chelsea: Bradley finished runner-up in the Division 2 state finals, clocking a Washtenaw County best 15 minutes, 27 seconds - 35 seconds faster than his previous personal record. It was his second career All-State performance. Was the sixth fastest finisher across all divisions, earning him Michigan Interscholastic Track Association “Dream Team” Status. Was runner up in five invitationals this season and never was out of the top-10 in any race.

Taylor Neely (jr.), Dexter: Finished 11th in the state finals with a time of 15:42.2 and was most often the top finisher for Division 1 runners-up Dreadnaughts. Won two invitationals - including regionals - had six more top-10 performances, and was a first team all-SEC White runner.

August Pappas (sr.), Chelsea: Pappas finished a disappointing (for him) seventh at the state finals for his fourth consecutive All-State performance. Pappas was a pre-race favorite after winning five consecutive invitationals coming into the finals, including the Portage Invitational, where he beat the eventual state champion head-to-head. Pappas compiled 23 invitational first place finishes over his career and had the second fastest time in the county this season with a 15:33. He is AnnArbor.com runner of the year.

Nicholas Renberg (jr.), Saline: Renberg’s drops in time from 2009 to 2010 are nothing short of remarkable. After rarely - and barely - breaking the 17-minute barrier as a sophomore, Renberg never went over 16:30 in his junior campaign. He clocked a 15:34.1 at the Division 1 state finals to finish in seventh place. The new PR was 2:23 faster than he ran at the state finals last season. Was champion of the Bath Invitational.

Alexey Vermeulen (so.), Dexter: Dexter ran as a pack all season and, along with Neely, Vermeulen was most often leading it. Clocked a PR of 1544.3 at the state finals, picking up All-State honors with a 15h place finish. Was and all-conference and all-region performer, finishing third at both championships.

COACH OF THE YEAR

David Testa

David Testa, Dexter: After finishing as runners-up in Division 2 in 2009, Testa’s Dreadnaughts proved up to the challenge of Division 1, again finishing in second place.

CLASS A FIRST TEAM

Andrew Barnett (sr.), Saline: Earned All-State status with 24th place finish in the state finals. Was also all-region and all-conference and runner-up at the Bath Invitational.

Spencer Bishop (jr.), Saline: Consistently registered top-10 finishes at invitationals and was a key cog to Saline’s success as a fifth place finishing team in Division 1.

Matt Greve (so.), Dexter: Greve and teammate Parker Latshaw gave Dexter the consistency it need in the middle of the lineup to compete with the state’s best. Broke the 16-minute barrier (15:57.5) for the first time in the state finals and was just six seconds from an all-state performance.

Jacob Higle-Ralbovsky (jr.), Huron: Higle-Ralbovsky was Huron’s No. 1 all year, with four top-10 finishes at invitationals including one first place.

Parker Latshaw (sr.), Dexter: Made tremendous progress from the beginning to the end of the season and shined brightest at the end with his four best races (time and place) of the season in his last four runs. Broke the 16-minute barrier (15:55.1) for the first time in the state finals and was just four seconds from an all-state performance.

CLASS B-C-D FIRST TEAM

Ike Fink (jr.), Milan: Was Milan’s lone qualifier for the Division 2 state championships. Was all-conference in the Huron League and was a consistent top-10 finisher for the Big Reds.

Austin Horn (so.), Chelsea: Horn’s improvement was the reason Chelsea outperformed its seed at regionals and qualified for the state championships. In the month of October, he shaved 90 seconds off his PR, and helped the Bulldogs narrow that chasm between its No. 2 and No. 3 that had prevented team success early in the season.

Ronnie Milbocker (jr.), Whitmore Lake: A first team all-conference runner in the Tri-County Conference, Milbocker swept the TCC Jamborees. The 53rd place finish at the Division 3 state finals was his only finish outside of the top-10 in a race all season.

John Munro (sr.), Whitmore Lake: Munro didn’t have an the finish to his senior season - with his times creeping up instead of down - but he was the No. 2 in Whitmore Lake’s TCC dominating three-punch combo.

Alex Ward (so.), Whitmore Lake: The third piece of the puzzle in the Trojans’ front pack, Ward steadily cut his times down throughout the season and broke the 17-minute barrier (16:42.5) in a ninth place finish at the Ypsilanti Legends Inviational.
