Nyki Caldwell (jr.), Dexter: Caldwell was the Division 1 state champion in the high jump after she cleared 5-feet, 8 inches (one inch short of her season high) at the state meet to improve on her seventh place finish in Division 2 in 2009. She was SEC White champion.

Kate Carter (sr.), Saline: Carter was one of the elder statesmen on Saline’s half freshmen/half seniors fourth place 3,200-meter relay team at the Division 1 state meet. She also was third in the 800 and ran a leg on the Hornets’ seventh place 1,600 relay team. Carter was SEC Red champion in the 800 and will run cross country and track for Miami University of Ohio.

Olivia DeTroyer (sr.), Chelsea: DeTroyer graduated from Chelsea as the most decorated girls track athlete in school history with four state titles (two individual, two relay) and seven additional all-state medals. DeTroyer capped her career at the 2010 Division 2 state meet by finishing fifth in the 400 (an event she won in 2008 and ’09), fourth in the 100, and anchored Chelsea’s state champion 800 and 1,600 relay teams. She was SEC White champion in the 100 and 400 and is the AnnArbor.com Girls Track Athlete of the Year. Will run at the University of Michigan.

Nicole Ferguson (so.), Dexter: Ferguson was runner up at the Division 1 state championships in the pole vault after she cleared a season best 11 feet, 3 inches. Despite this, Ferguson still has to battle for bragging rights in the locker room and at home. She was second behind teammate Micaela Carter at the SEC White Championships and her brother, Steve, was state runner up in the pole vault for Dexter’s boys team.

Karen Gallardo (sr.), Saline: At the Division 1 state meet, Gallardo ran a leg on the runner up 400 and seventh place 1,600 relay team. She also picked up an individual medal with a fifth place finish in the 300 hurdles.

LaMicah Hughbanks (jr.), Huron: At the Division 1 state meet, Hughbanks placed sixth in the 100 and ran a leg on the River Rats’ third place 800 relay team. She was SEC Red Champion in the 100.

Sophia Kunselman (so.), Pioneer: Kunselman picked up two individual all-state medals at the Division 1 championship with a runner-up finish in the 300 hurdles and third place in the 110 hurdles. She also ran a leg on Pioneer’s fifth place 1,600 relay team and was SEC Red champion in the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Maya Long (so.), Huron: At the Division 1 state meet, Long placed fourth in the 400 and ran a leg on Huron’s second place 1,600 and third place 800 relay teams. The speedy sophomore was SEC Red champion in the 400 and 200.

Anna Masini (so.), Huron: Few were as busy or successful at the Division 1 state meet as Masini who was seventh in the 300 hurdles and ran on the River Rats’ trio of all-state relay teams. Huron placed second in the 1,600, third in the 800 and seventh in the 3,200 relays with Masini running a leg in all three.

Brooke Pleger (sr.), Saline: Pleger’s season best discus throw of 118 feet, 7 inches would have landed her on the medal podium at states, but she fell three inches (and places) short during the finals. She was SEC Red champion in the discus. Will compete for Bowling Green State University.

Lauren Ross (jr.), Lincoln: Ross placed fifth in the 200 and ran a leg on the Railsplitters’ sixth place 800 relay team at the Division 1 state meet. She was SEC White champion in the 200.

Kristen Yarows (sr.), Dexter: After taking fourth place in the 3,200 in Division 2 as in 2009, Yarows capped off her career with an eighth place finish at the Division 1 state championships.
