DREAM TEAM

Lea Allen (sr.), Saline: Allen and teammate/fellow Dream Team selection Alli Littlejohn proved that speed kills for Saline and combined to be the most lethal 1-2 scoring threat in the state. When Allen wasn’t scoring, she was dishing off to Littlejohn on her way to 98 goals and 43 assists on the season. She was a first team All-State selection and made the All-State tournament team while leading the Hornets to a runner-up finish. She will continue her playing career next year at Division I Siena College, where she will also be a member of the swimming and diving team.

Kelcy Barott (jr.), Huron: Barott was the River Rats’ best player on both ends of the pool. She did the lion’s share of the scoring with 136 goals and 42 assists for an average of 4.25 goals and 5.56 points per game, and was often asked to defend the opposition’s best player. Barott was a first team All-State selection and is the 2010 AnnArbor.com Washtenaw County Player of the Year.

Stephanie Bundas (jr.), Saline: In her first year playing, Bundas looked like a seasoned veteran in the pool. She was most often given the unenviable task of covering the opposition’s most dangerous goal scorer and used her superior strength and athleticism to give her more experienced peers fits. She also contributed on the offensive end with 48 goals and 36 assists of her own. Bundas was a third team All-State selection and second team selection during the state tournament.

Alli Littlejohn (sr.), Saline: Littlejohn and fellow senior teammate Lea Allen were the best 1-2 scoring punch in the state. Littlejohn led Saline with 101 goals and also had 33 assists. She was a first team All-State selection and made the All-State tournament team while leading the Hornets to a runner-up finish. She will continue her playing career at Division I George Washington University.

Caylie McMath (jr.), Pioneer: With McMath as a gatekeeper, Pioneer stayed in games that very well could have been blowouts. The Pioneers lost a lot of Division I talent from its 2009 state championship team, but McMath’s presence in goal made the transition a relatively smooth one.

Diana Steele (sr.), Pioneer: Steele was Pioneer’s leading scorer and, according to coach Will Hart, “a true leader on the team.” Though finishing fifth in the state is a down year by Pioneer standards, Steele had anything but that as a second team All-State selection for the season and the state tournament. Steele will play club for Michigan State next year.

Arielle Viviano (jr.), Huron: Viviano had 37 goals and 42 assists for Huron. She was a second team All-State selection and was a second team all-tournament team selection, as well. When Barott was on the sidelines for the state tournament, Viviano didn’t hesitate to step into the scorer’s role, with six goals in three games.

Coach of the Year

Brad Silverman, Saline: For the second year in a row, Saline’s season ended in the state championship game. Though the Hornets again fell one win short of their ultimate goal, Silverman had his team clicking on all cylinders from start to finish of his sixth season.
