DREAM TEAM

Nick Daze (sr. F), Huron: Daze displayed playoff heroics for the River Rats, including a game-sealing goal late in the third period of Huron’s 3-1 regional championship win over Lincoln-Milan. It was the Rats’ first regional crown since the early 90s. He finished the season as Huron’s offensive leader, posting 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points. Daze was also named All-SEC Red and to the Metro League West first team.

Luke Dwyer (sr. G), Huron: Instrumental in the River Rats’ push to a regional championship, Dwyer finished the season with 770 saves on 855 (90-percent) shots and a 10-14 record. He was named All-Metro League, All-Metro League West and the West’s MVP and given the Metro League’s Governor George Romney Trophy, an annual award given to one senior displaying outstanding sportsmanship, scholarship and playing skill. In addition, Dwyer was named All-SEC Red.

Drew Harper (sr. F), Lincoln-Milan: Harper led Washtenaw County players in scoring with 70 points (27 goals, 43 assists) and was a mainstay in Lincoln-Milan’s boxscore all year. While steering the Railsplitters to a Division 1 regional title game, where they lost to Huron, Harper accounted for eight points (four goals, four assists) in the school’s first-ever playoff win over Taylor Truman. Harper was named All-SEC White.

Dan Hudson (sr. F), Chelsea: Helped lead Chelsea to its first final four appearance in the Division 3 state tournament, where the Bulldogs fell to Flint Powers in a semifinal. Hudson set the tone for Chelsea’s postseason run, netting a double-overtime goal to lift the Bulldogs over Jackson Lumen Christi, 4-3, in their regional opener. Hudson helped the Bulldogs claimed the SEC White crown and was named All-SEC White, finishing the campaign with 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists).

Jarrett Pfeiffer (sr. F), Lincoln-Milan: Right on teammate Drew Harper’s tail for the county scoring lead, Pfeiffer compiled 65 points on the year (38 goals, 27 assists). Siding with Harper’s eight-point night in the Railsplitters’ first playoff win over Taylor, Pfeiffer racked up six points on two goals and four assists. Pfeiffer, who aided L-M’s run to a Division 1 regional championship game against Huron, was named to the All-SEC White team.

Matt Stirling (sr. F), Dexter: Stood atop the county’s scoring leader board through the bulk of the regular season, ultimately finishing with the third-most after the playoffs. His 64 total points (33 goals, 31 assists), which included a number of hat tricks, was highlighted by a five-goal outburst in Dexter’s 8-1 win over Auburn Hills Avondale. Stirling, whose team finished 13-10, was named All-SEC White.

COACH OF THE YEAR Don Wright, Chelsea: Led Chelsea to its first appearance in the MHSAA Division 3 state semifinals, where the Bulldogs fell to powerhouse Flint Powers 4-0. The team's playoff run included a 4-3 OT win over Jackson Lumen Christi in the regional semifinals, a 4-3 double-OT win over Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central in the regional title game, and a 4-3 comeback win over Riverview Gabriel Richard in the state quarterfinals. Wright led the Bulldogs to a 14-13-2 overall record and a 7-2-1 league mark, good for first place in the SEC White.

SECOND TEAM

John Brosch (sr. F), Dexter: On his way to 31 season goals, Brosch put on a one-game offensive display the state has never seen, scoring three goals in a state record-setting 34 seconds. The previous state record was 1:01. He added 19 assists to his totals to finish with 51 points - fourth in the county. Named to the All-SEC White team.

Brad Christman (sr. F), Huron: Provided the game-winning goal for the River Rats in their 3-1 win over Lincoln-Milan for a Division 1 regional championship. The senior forward earned a spot on the All-SEC Red honorable mention team and the Metro League West second team. He finished with 33 points (23 goals and 10 assists).

Matt Darr (sr. G), Chelsea: The anchor to Chelsea’s defense, the goalie Darr capped the season with an 87.8 save percentage and a 14-11-2 overall record. In nine SEC league games, Darr gave up only 13 total goals and recorded two shutouts. His play helped Chelsea reach its first-ever state semifinals, where Darr, despite the loss, racked up an impressive 26 saves. He was named All-SEC White.

Andrew Hanna (sr. F), Saline: Finished as the point-leader - with 26 (12 goals, 14 assists) - for a Saline squad that won the SEC Red and made a run to the Division 2 state quarterfinals. Hanna’s postseason play included a game-tying goal in a 6-4 upset win over Pinckney. Named All-SEC Red and Metro League West first team.

Brad Hepler (so. F), Chelsea: Led the SEC White-winning Bulldogs in points with 40 (15 goals, 25 assists). His most important goal undoubtedly came in the Division 3 quarterfinals, where he netted the game-winner in Chelsea’s 4-3 comeback win over Riverview Gabriel Richard, sending Chelsea to its first-ever state semifinal appearance. He was named All-SEC White honorable mention.

Matt Quinn (sr. F), Father Gabriel Richard: Played a key role in the Fighting Irish’s milestone season, which included a school record for wins and a 15-7-3 overall record. Quinn led the Irish in goals, scoring 23 along with 15 assists to finish with 38 points. The senior captain was named All-Catholic League at season’s end.
