DREAM TEAM

Kelcy Barott (sr., C/F), Huron: By design, Barott took a back seat in Huron’s offense most of the season, but with a 45.5 shooting percentage, still managed to average 13 points for the Southeastern Conference Red Division champions. Despite spending most of her time in the post, the 6-foot Barott was Huron’s most efficient shooter (33.3 percent) from 3-point range. When coach Steve Vinson called on her for more offense in the last three games of the season, Barott averaged 20 points. She was valuable on both ends of the court with 6.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 2.4 steals and was easily Huron’s best defender. She was a Class A all-state honorable mention.

Kamilah Carter (sr., G), Pioneer: Carter is a pure scorer who created her own shots off dribble penetration, had a solid mid-range game and could shoot from the outside. She made 31 3-pointers in 19 regular season games, was a 71.9-percent (82 of 114) free throw shooter and averaged 19.1 points. She scored more than 30 points twice and more than 20 points in 11 games. Carter averaged 16.3 points during district play and shot 80.7 percent (21 of 26) from the line, leading Pioneer to its first district championship since 2000. At 5-foot-4, Carter was the shortest Class A all-state first team selection and is AnnArbor.com Player of the Year.

McKenna Erkfritz (so., F), Manchester: The 6-foot sophomore had a breakout season for the Flying Dutch, averaging a double-double of 15.7 points and 11.5 rebounds. She broke school records for points in a game (29), field goals in a game (12), rebounds in a game (22) and rebounds in a season (251). Erkfritz led Manchester in scoring, rebounds and blocked shots and was a Class C all-state honorable mention. Said coach Cori Kastel, “She is a finesse post who battles hard down low, but has also developed a soft outside touch.”

Maya Richmond (sr., F), Pioneer: Probably the most athletic of the Dream Team members, Richmond was at times relied upon - offensively and defensively - in the backcourt, at the mid-range or banging down low. One possession she could be posting up from the center position and on the next defending a team’s point guard and leading a fast break. She handled it all adeptly with a 9.8 point scoring average and leading the Pioneers in rebounding.

Devin Talley (jr., G), Huron: Talley is the latest in a long line of standout Huron guards that includes Devonyea Johnson and Charlise Slater before her and Tyler Hardy and Shavelle Little before them. Talley led the SEC Red champion River Rats in scoring with a 13.5 point average and a 48 percent field goal percentage. She also averaged two steals and 3.5 rebounds per game.

CLASS A FIRST TEAM

Emma Brann, (sr., C) Pioneer: The 6-1 Brann was the other half - along with Richmond - of Pioneer’s twin towers and was a large part of the reason the Pioneers were 20-4 with their first district title since 2000. Brann averaged nine points and had six double-doubles on the year.

Arielle Cargor (so., G), Lincoln: Lincoln won just four games during the regular season and averaged 35.5 points per game. Cargor accounted for 35.6 percent of that scoring with a 12.7 point average.

Emily Everett (sr., F), Saline: Averaged 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds for the Hornets. Was a 38 percent (18 of 47) shooter from beyond the 3-point arc and had five 3-pointers in her swan song as a Hornet, a first round district loss.

Jasmine Jones (so., G), Ypsilanti: In her first year at the point guard position for the Phoenix, Jones led the team in scoring and assists, averaging 14 points, four assists and three steals per game.

Bianca Williams (so., G) Huron: Played beyond her years with 10.5 points per game and moments of athletic brilliance that will please Huron coach Steve Vinson for years to come.

CLASS B-C-D FIRST TEAM

Angela Broggi (jr., F), Father Gabriel Richard: Led the Irish in scoring with 10.9 points per game and rebounds with 5.6 per game. Broggi was diverse enough to play all four guard and forward positions, offensively or defensively.

Megan Hall (jr., G), Chelsea: Led the Bulldogs to a Class B district title and a share of first place in the SEC White. Hall averaged 12.5 points with a 34.1 shooting percentage (15 of 44) from 3-point range.

Sarah Falvey (jr., G), Father Gabriel Richard: Averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 assists and four steals for the Fighting Irish. Coach Matt Carroll credited the junior guard’s leadership for turning the Irish into an above-.500 team despite a 1-6 start.

Taylor Manders (so., G), Manchester: The speedy sophomore used her quickness to attack the hoop, averaging 13.7 points, and also on the defensive end, averaging 4.2 steals.

Marissa Thompson (jr., F), Greenhills: Thompson was at the forefront of the Gryphons’ worst-to-first resurgence in MIAC league play. She averaged a double-double of 12.5 points and 11.2 rebounds and had a 20-point, 26-rebound performance.
