Father Gabriel Richard baseball wins, softball loses and other Tuesday results
Chris Ostrowski and Mattie DeDoes combined to throw a one-hitter and Conor Dishman hit a pair of home runs as the Father Gabriel Richard baseball team cruised to an 11-0 win over Grass Lake in Tuesday's Division 3 pre-district game at Manchester.
Ostrowski pitched four innings, striking out six and allowing the only Grass Lake hit. The Fighting Irish scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to give them a mercy rule-level lead and DeDoes finished things off by setting down Grass Lake in order in the bottom of the inning.

Dishman finished 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs for the Irish, who took a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Dennis Olszewski added four RBIs and a home run.
Father Gabriel Richard will face host Manchester in a district semifinal on Saturday.
SOFTBALL PRE-DISTRICTS
DIVISION 1 AT MANCHESTER
The Grass Lake High School softball team hit the postseason having lost six of its last seven games, but behind the strong pitching of Chelsea Evans the Warriors shut out Father Gabriel Richard, 10-0, in a Division 3 pre-district game Tuesday.

Evans struck out five and gave up just two hits in the five-inning game. She got things rolling at the plate with a two-run double in the first inning.
"We had been on a bit of a losing streak," Grass Lake coach Roger Cook told the Jackson Citizen-Patriot. "We finally got the bats going, and Evans pitched a great game for us."
DIVISION 2 AT LIVONIA LADYWOOD
LIVONIA - The Skyline High School softball team's inaugural varsity season ended with an 18-0 loss to Livonia Ladywood in a Division 2 pre-district game on Tuesday.

Sophomore All-State pitcher Brianna Combs thew a no-hitter and the host Blazers brought the game to an early conclusion with a 10-run fourth inning.
Skyline finished its season with a 1-24 record.
REGULAR SEASON Erie-Mason 10, Whitmore Lake 0; Erie-Mason 5, Whitmore Lake 3: The Trojans were no-hit in the opener of a make-up, regular season doubleheader and lost the second game despite out-hitting Erie-Mason by a 6-to-3 margin. Nicole Emmett was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the second game for Whitmore Lake (5-28), which opens Division 3 district play at 10 a.m. Saturday against Greenhills in Manchester.
