Chelsea pushed early by Tecumseh, but prevails for 35-21 victory

By Joe Stapleton

In a game of halftime adjustments, Chelsea High School defeated Tecumseh 35-21 on Friday on the Bulldogs' home turf.

Chelsea opened up the game with a long, sustained drive that resulted in senior wideout Nate Udell catching a 12-yard pass from senior quarterback Brian Paulsen in the end zone. The drive lasted eight plays.

On its first offensive possession of the game, Tecumseh only needed one.

Junior running back Austin Shartle took the pitch from junior quarterback Bradley Vannatter on Tecumseh’s first offensive play of the game and sprinted untouched 69 yards for the score.

The long run was a sign of things to come for Shartle, who finished the game with 219 yards on the ground.
